ATPL (H) frozen – theoretical part

Course objectives

Provide candidates with the necessary theoretical knowledge to pass the theoretical exams to obtain the Airline Transport Pilot License ATPL (H).

The Airline Pilot License enables the holder to operate as a pilot or co-pilot on helicopters used in commercial air transport in single-pilot or multi-pilot mode.

Admission requirements

Minimum age to take the course

An ATPL(H) license candidate must be at least 21 years of age before taking the practical exam.

Qualifications and knowledge

High school diploma.

Assessment with tests to establish the student’s entry level aimed at ascertaining:

  • the necessary knowledge of physics and mathematics;
  • knowledge of the English language.

Pre-requisites

An ATPL(H) license candidate must have the following requirements:

  • be in possession of a valid PPL(H) or CPL(H) private pilot license;

Structure of the course and exams

The course consists of a theoretical part in distance learning and one which takes place at the Caiolo headquarters or secondary bases of the school.

The following theoretical credits are expected on the total hours and on the subjects listed:

  • A student with a CPL(H) license will have 200 hours of credit on the total course and will not have to take the VFR Communications exam;
  • A student with an IR(H) instrument flight rating will have 200 hours credit on the total course and will not have to take the IFR Communications exam;
  • A student with an IR(H) instrument rating and CPL(H) license will have 350 hours credit on the total course and will not have to take the IFR Communications and VFR Communications exams;
